tarleton university logoWaxahachie ISD has entered a partnership program that will allow any Waxahachie ISD student who graduates in the top 25 percent of his/her graduating class automatic acceptance to Tarleton State University.

And there is no catch. Tarleton will waive the requirement that these students submit scores from the ACT or SAT to be considered for admission. The application fee will also be waived.

WISD graduates who qualify for Tarleton’s Guaranteed Award Program (GAP) and attend Tarleton will receive an award guarantee $1,000 above the GAP level for which they qualify if the student is ranked in the top 10 percent of their graduating class. Students who qualify and are ranked top 25 percent will receive $500. GAP eligibility can be found on the university website.

Tarleton will provide ongoing support at WISD, such as financial aid, admission, and degree counseling; work-study mentorships; peer mentoring, etc.

This partnership will be in effect for the 2020-21 school year and will renew automatically for up to four successive annual terms.

WISD has a similar agreement with Southwestern Assemblies of God University for the automatic admission of the top 25 percent of Waxahachie High School and Waxahachie Global High School students. The district and the local university have partnered on this deal since the 2017-18 school year.

Students eligible for SAGU’s offer must graduate within the top 25 percent of their class and agree to SAGU’s faith and conduct requirements. Application fees will be waived along with the submission of ACT and SAT scores.

WISD is proud to partner with these universities to help promote the mission of the district and provide higher education opportunities for our students.
